{"id":77,"date":"2003-12-13T14:23:39","date_gmt":"2003-12-13T18:23:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lopeyland.com\/?p=77"},"modified":"2006-06-27T23:24:11","modified_gmt":"2006-06-28T03:24:11","slug":"prestonwood-a-mega-building","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lopeyland.com\/?p=77","title":{"rendered":"Prestonwood: a mega building"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Prestonwood: the mega experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well, last night we went to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prestonwood.org\">Prestonwood Baptist Church<\/a> to see their 2003 Dallas Christmas celebration.<\/p>\n<p>I am a mixed bag of feelings on the entire event, mostly because I have reservations about mega-churches. Let&#8217;s put it this way: rougly 1,000 volunteers contributed time and effort to this. There was a nearly full orchestra, Santa in a rocketship, Frosty the Snowman on roller blades, a &#8220;five year old&#8221; making a slightly misogynistic joke about her mom&#8217;s cooking abilities, a flying cowboy in a white suit, a barroom brawl, and the complete story of Jesus, from birth to resurrection (with lasers!).<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve still got to ruminate a bit more on the whole experience.  Right now I&#8217;m in class for automated testing, just like I&#8217;ve been every Saturday for a while.
