If you haven’t checked some of the comments lately…

Hey there.

DeRigeur, he of the oral surgery, has been posting some pretty good material that points out that at least the Reuters news organization deliberately slants headlines toward the left. So in that case, there is the left-wing bias. However, there are other counterexamples, such as the Fox News network. Their contexts have been written up in several places, such as? Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting, and the current link of the ranting left,? What Liberal Media?

One of the goofier paradoxes this year: Supreme Judge Scalia.

Funny site: Flying Pig.

Also, Ted Rall’s most recent column is chock full o’ invective (yes, he’s a bleeding leftist, deal with it) : The Moron Majority.

  1. Don’t see the Scalia speech as a paradox. Just because he was invited to speak on Free Speech doesn’t mean he should have to allow others to record his speech.
Like the Dixie Chicks (Scalia and Dixie Chicks! how’s that for opposing metaphors!) They have the right to speak their mind, but that doesn’t mean people have to agree (and purchase their products).

BTW, certainly there are conservative media. Fox news being conservative doesn’t mean that CNN isn’t liberal, just like Rush Limbaugh being conservative doesn’t mean that Phil Donahue isn’t liberal. What surprises me, though, is how strongly people will object to any suggestion that "their" media has a bias.

Having fun reading your links. Why would someone who wants to be "FAIR" use terms like good ol’ boy network and other raving terms?

    I want a flying pig!

  2. As far as Newsweek goes, they’re JANW (Just Another News Weekly). I don’t assign them left or right, yet.

TSG has an interesting clip from BBC America which showed Bush getting his hair styled before his speech. The White House got pissed, and the Beeb apologized for not making our president look, uh, presidential.

    Media manipulation? Nah.
